SUMMARY:ILCA U21 World Championships Coaching Tour
DESCRIPTION:ILCA U21 World Championships Coaching Tour\n📍 Playa Blanca\, Lanzarote\, Spain \n📅 Saturday 13th of January – Saturday 25th of January 2026 \n\nBackground and Overview\nSailCoach will be running a coaching tour for the ILCA U21 World Championships in Playa Blanca\, Lanzarote. The Coaching tour will start from the 13th of January (arrival) to the 25th of January (departure). We are in a fortunate position where SailCoach will be on site a few days before the ILCA U21 World Championships\, providing an excellent opportunity for sailors to fine-tune their skills\, familiarise themselves with the venue\, and gain valuable insights from our experienced coaching team.\n \nThis coaching tour is designed for ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 sailors under the age of 21 who are serious about their racing and eager to gain experience at a major international regatta. Whether you’re aiming for a top result or using this event as part of your long-term development\, the SailCoach team will be on hand to guide you through every step of the championship week. \nOur programme includes a short training block in the days leading up to the regatta\, where sailors can get to know the venue\, refine boat speed\, and sharpen their routines. During the championship itself\, SailCoach coaches will support athletes both on and off the water\, covering race strategy\, weather briefings\, boat park logistics\, and post-race debriefs. As SailCoach enters our 30th year\, we take pride in offering what we call “Coaching Tours” backed by three decades of experience. \n\n\nLearning Goals\nAt this Championship\, the SailCoach team will focus on improving your regatta preparation skills. Our coaches will work with you daily\, setting up a structured plan and goals for the upcoming regatta. You’ll learn important details about preparing for events\, ensuring you’re informed and ready. \nAdditionally\, our coaches will teach you how to adapt to different weather conditions and handle the pressures of high-level competition. A big part of this will be developing and using effective race strategies. You’ll get better at analysing races and refining your tactics\, with our coaches giving you helpful feedback and showing you how to assess your own performance. This coaching will prepare you to compete like leading athletes prepare. \nSuccess in sports doesn’t happen overnight\, it requires a lot of time and effort. With our coaching\, you will have learned the right ways to prepare for a championship. Therefore\, we recommend you continue to train and compete regularly to hone these techniques and skills. \n\nA typical day\nThe day would start with a morning briefing\, looking over the weather forecasting and communicating anything important from the coaches meeting and specific points to note for the days racing. The SailCoach coaches will offer you coaching support afloat\, such as towing if necessary to get to the starting line. Carry any bags with food and spare parts\, along with a jacket to keep warm between races. \nThe day finishes with a post-race debrief and discussion of the day’s events. In some cases\, our coaches will make briefings individually\, going around the boat park before or after racing\, depending on the circumstances. We advise our sailors to settle any differences on the water or in the boat park when possible. However\, we will be there to support you during protests if all else fails. \nNumbers will be limited on this coaching tour\, so you are advised to book early. \n\n\n\nProgram:\n \n13th of January 2026\nArrive at César Manrique-Lanzarote (ACE)\, and be met by SailCoach’s friendly coaching staff member\, who will take you to Playa Blanca\, about an hour’s journey along the scenic views of the coast and make your way to the accommodation. \n14th and 18th of January 2026\nDuring familiarisation days\, SailCoach will be training at the regatta venue for four days before the event. It gives sailors a chance to get over jet lag and gain valuable knowledge of the area. Our coaches will help you develop a “Game Plan” strategy and provide you with video analysis that may perfect your boat handling and speed. Having the right preparation is a must when going into an important event. These pre-regatta days will also help you get to know our coaches\, a significant advantage when racing begins. \n19th to the 24th of January 2026\nRacing starts in the ILCA 4 Youth Europeans\, in what promises to be a tough event\, ahead lies eight days of racing. However\, don’t worry\, SailCoach’s experienced coaching staff will be there with you\, giving you all the support you need on and off the water to help you reach your goals. \n25th of January 2026\nA member of the SailCoach staff will drop you off at César Manrique-Lanzarote (ACE) for your journey home\, hopefully with a trophy or two under your belt. One thing is for sure\, you will have gained a lot of experience in these major events and have sweet memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life. \n\nILCA 4 Youth Europeans Coaching Tour Package \nAs mentioned above\, we can offer you our total package for this championship\, which includes airport transfers\, accommodation\, pre-training and venue familiarisation prior to the championship\, help with registration and measurement and our world-class coaching. On top of this\, you would need to budget for flights\, entry fees\, ILCA Dinghy charter\, meal expenses and pocket money. \nThere is a “day coaching” option for the young sailors who would like to stay with their parents and have our coaching staff look after everything on the water. \nCharter Boat Options\nIf you need an ILCA Dinghy charter for a regatta\, we would be happy to organise this for you. Those taking part in one of our coaching tour packages\, please ask us for our special rate… \n\n\nIf you’re interested in joining us for this coaching tour\, please get in touch to receive the full event PDF document\, which includes pricing\, travel details\, and booking instructions. Whether you’ve worked with SailCoach before or are joining us for the first time\, we look forward to helping you make the most of this world-class opportunity.

It also gives participants the chance to work with world-class ILCA coaches\, many of whom have supported Team SailCoach at multiple Olympic Games. \nEach day combines targeted classroom sessions with focused on-water exercises\, providing a balance of theory\, practice\, and healthy competition. Tactical and strategic decision-making will be discussed during daily debriefs\, with individual feedback and video reviews helping sailors gain a clear understanding of how to improve their performance.\nSeabank Hotel\, Mellieħa Bay\, on Malta’s largest sandy beach \n\n\n\n\n\n\n      \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPre Clinic Entry Experience\n\n\n\n\nThe TY Performance BaseCamp welcomes sailors with a strong motivation to enhance and refine their racing skills\, aiming to take a substantial leap toward elevating their national standards. Participants are not restricted to regular ILCA Dinghy sailors; we extend our invitation to those originating from national youth classes such as Topper\, 29er\, and 420. However\, it is essential that they possess the capability to sail in 18 to 20 knots of wind on the open sea. Our program values diversity and embraces sailors from various backgrounds and experiences who share a common goal of advancing their racing abilities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSailCoach’s Coaching Philosophy\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are dedicated to inspiring young individuals through an unforgettable adventure that leaves a lasting imprint on their lives. Sailing transcends the realm of leisure activity\, it serves as a powerful catalyst for personal transformation. Our goal extends beyond providing top race training\, it encompasses the development of character\, confidence\, and self-esteem\, both on and off the water. \nAt SailCoach\, we are committed to making a lifelong impact on everyone we encounter. We measure our success not solely by sailing achievements but also by the personal growth and achievements of our TY students. Our coaches are firm believers in the potential of all young people to succeed and realise their true capabilities. During their school transition year\, we aim to equip them with a valuable set of life skills\, enabling them to excel in various aspects of life\, including academic success in the Leaving Cert. Our goal is to empower them for a bright and promising future. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA typical day\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe day will start at 08:30\, with students having their breakfast in the hotel restaurant and then meeting at 10:30 on the beach in front of the hotel for a physical training activation session. These physical training sessions will be conducted by our in-house S&C coaches\, with care being taken that the exercises are suitable for that age group\, ensuring their safety. \nA briefing will follow what the coach plans for the day’s sailing sessions and point out the areas where the coach intends to focus\, considering the prevailing weather conditions. After a short lunch\, students will go afloat for the race training session\, which could last between two to three hours\, again depending on the weather forecast. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter sailing\, the S&C coach will take control of the group\, running a recovery session that sometimes involves an ice bath or swims. SUMMARY:November TY BaseCamp - (Valencia)
DESCRIPTION:SailCoach TY BaseCamp – November 2025\, Valencia\, Spain\nSailCoach’s TY BaseCamp has become a long standing and highly respected program among Irish families\, known for providing a unique and transformative experience during Transition Year. Trusted by parents and loved by the students who take part\, it’s widely regarded as a “must” for any young sailor looking to make the most of this special school year. Held at our Valencia SailBase\, the October 2025 edition offers an ideal opportunity to build racing skills\, grow in confidence\, and live independently in a supportive environment. The program is also open to international sailors who wish to join for an extended block of structured training alongside their Irish peers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile originally designed with Irish TY students in mind\, the program is also open to motivated young sailors from other countries who are eager to train alongside their peers. We typically welcome sailors aged 15 to 16\, with a focus on ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 racing. \n\nWhy Join A TY BaseCamp?\nWe understand that many TY students would like to use this flexible school year to advance their sailing skills\, work toward selection for the Irish Sailing Academy\, or simply gain life experience away from home in a structured\, supportive environment.\n\nThe TY BaseCamp is designed to provide a comprehensive experience:\n\nHigh-level ILCA training\nExposure to full-time athlete routines\nSupportive mentoring by professional coaches\nDevelopment of independence\, discipline\, and self-confidence\nAge-appropriate fitness training to support overall well-being\n\nWhether a sailor aims to make the leap to national or international competition or is simply seeking personal growth\, the TY BaseCamp provides the foundation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPre-Entry Experience\n\n\n\n\nThe TY BaseCamp is designed for sailors who are highly motivated to improve their racing skills and take a meaningful step toward national level performance. While most participants sail ILCA Dinghies\, we also welcome those transitioning from other youth classes such as Topper\, 29er\, or 420. To ensure safety and training values\, sailors should be confident sailing in 16 to 20 knots of wind on the open sea. We value varied sailing pathways and experiences in experience and background—what matters most is a shared commitment to progress and a passion for dinghy racing.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSailCoach’s Coaching Philosophy\nAt SailCoach\, we believe sailing is more than a sport\, and it’s a transformative journey. Our TY BaseCamp focuses not only on sailing performance but also on character development\, resilience\, and life readiness.\n\n\nWe aim to:\nInspire young people through a structured yet adventurous program\nSupport the development of confidence\, leadership\, and decision-making\nEquip students with skills that will serve them well in sport\, school\, and life\n\n\nWe measure success by both sailing progression and personal growth. Our coaches are passionate about mentoring the next generation of sailors and helping them realise their full potential.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe aim to give young TY students an unforgettable experience that will stay with them for life. For us\, sailing is more than just a sport\, it’s a way to help young people grow and learn. While we offer high-quality race training\, we also focus on building character\, confidence\, and self-belief\, both on and off the water. \nAt SailCoach\, we want to make a lasting difference in the lives of the young sailors we work with. We don’t just measure success by results on the racecourse\, but also by the personal progress our TY students make. Our coaches believe that every young person has the potential to succeed and discover what they’re truly capable of. During Transition Year\, we help them develop important life skills that support success in school\, including the Leaving Cert\, and beyond. Our aim is to give them the tools they need for a bright and confident future. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA typical day\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach day at TY BaseCamp follows a structured routine designed to help students get the most out of their training\, while also supporting their well-being and independence. \nThe morning begins with students preparing their own breakfast and packed lunch in their shared accommodation\, helping build practical life skills. They then head to the SailBase for a physical activation session led by our in-house Strength & Conditioning coach\, with exercises tailored to suit their age and fitness level. \nBefore heading out on the water\, the coaching team holds a short briefing to set the goals for the day and outline the training plan based on the weather conditions. The afternoon is spent on the water\, focusing on racing skills and boat handling in ILCA Dinghies\, with sessions typically lasting two to three hours.\n \n  \nOnce back ashore\, sailors take part in a recovery session\, which might include light stretching\, swimming\, or even an ice bath\, depending on the day’s intensity. The group then comes together for a debrief to reflect on the day’s training and highlight key learning points. \nEvenings are relaxed and social. Students have dinner together at a nearby restaurant and wind down before lights out\, ready to do it all again the next day. The balance of hard work\, structured routine\, and down time helps students develop discipline\, build friendships\, and stay motivated throughout the camp.\n \n\nBeyond Sailing\nWhile the focus of TY BaseCamp is on developing sailing and life skills\, we also believe it’s important for students to enjoy new experiences and create lasting memories. In the evenings\, the group is fully supervised by our staff as they eat out together in local restaurants\, giving them a safe and structured opportunity to enjoy Spanish culture\, relax\, and socialise in a supportive environment. \nTo keep things fun and varied\, we organise occasional activities like go-karting\, paintball\, “escape room” challenges\, and trips into the city\, where students can explore\, soak up the atmosphere\, and even pick up a few souvenirs for granny. These shared moments add to the sense of adventure\, build friendships\, and give students a well-rounded and unforgettable Transition Year experience.

Alternatively\, for talented club sailors aged 15 and over. \nWhat’s involved\nThe Performance Summer Camp is designed to help improve boat preparation with the most recent developments in the class\, sail settings and advanced boat handling skills\, including roll-tacking\, roll-gybing and mark roundings. This Summer Camp will look hard at developing both Upwind and Downwind speed with extensive use of video analysis. \nSailCoach believes strongly in the multi-national training concept\, which we developed many years back. Therefore\, this Summer Camp of hard training will give sailors the opportunity to push themselves hard against competitors from other countries.
It will also provide young sailors with the opportunity to be coached by the most experienced ILCA coaches available\, including coaches who have been members of the Team SailCoach squad at different Olympics. \nThe clinic’s daily schedule will combine classroom lessons with on the water exercises offering healthy competition and is followed up with debriefing of tactical and strategy situations. Sailors will receive individual attention both on the water and with video analysis. \nA typical day\nThe day will start with a physical training warm-up session\, sometimes before breakfast and sometimes after. Our strength and conditioning coach will conduct these physical training sessions\, with care being taken that the exercises are suitable for that age group and to ensure the safety of the sailors taking part in the sessions. This will be followed by a briefing on what the coach plans for the days sailing sessions\, pointing out the areas where the coach intends to focus\, taking into consideration the prevailing weather conditions. \nDepending on the venue and the weather forecast\, the coach may decide to run one longer session instead of two shorter sessions. \nThe S&C coach will then take control of the group again after sailing\, running a cool-down session which sometimes involves an ice bath or swim. Again\, depending on the venue\, there will be a debrief on the days activities either before or after dinner. There will be some time set aside in the evening to relax before bed… the next day\, it starts all over again! \nProgram:\n\n2nd August 2025: (arrival day)\nArrive into Valencia Airport (VLC) between 08:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs and be met by one of SailCoach’s friendly staff. You will meet people from around the world who\, like you\, are “mad about sailing” and will become life-long friends in our sport.

SUMMARY:ILCA Performance Summer Camp - (Valencia) A
DESCRIPTION:Pre-Clinic Entry Experience\nThe focus of this Performance Summer Camp is set up to provide a platform for sailors who have been active in their national youth sailing circuits or Optimists sailors who would like to make the transition to the ILCA Dinghy.
\nProgram:\n\n15th July 2025: (arrival day)\nArrive into Valencia Airport (VLC) between 08:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs and be met by one of SailCoach’s friendly staff. They will take you to the Reial Club Nàutic de València\, the venue for this ILCA Half-Term Clinic. \n16 to 24th July 2025:\nThe ILCA 4 and 6 Performance Summer Camp daily schedule will start each morning with a group briefing at 10:00hrs in the Reial Club Nàutic de València and finish at 17:30hrs. \n25th July 2025: (departure day)\nSailCoach staff will drop you off at Valencia Airport between 08:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs for your journey home after some quality training. \nWe Take Our Responsibilities Seriously \n• All our coaches are qualified and are CRB cleared for child safety\n• Each clinic will have a nominated child welfare officer on site \nWe hope the above will maximize enjoyment and progression whilst balancing the need to have as much time on the water training. \nSailCoach hopes you’ll be as excited as we are about this ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 Performance Summer Camp. You will meet people from around the world who\, like you\, are “mad about sailing” and will become life-long friends in our sport.

The city boasts some of the best food in Spain\, with a variety of tapas and paella dishes to try. Partners of sailors are more than welcome to join in these social events. But be warned\, talk around the dinner table is mostly about ILCA sailing\, with such interesting topics as vang attention or centreboard height. \nValencia is a vibrant city and Spain’s third largest\, after Madrid and Barcelona. It is a great destination for those looking for a mix of culture\, art\, and nature. The city is home to a number of interesting attractions\, from the City of Arts and Sciences to the historic old mediaeval town. There are also plenty of beaches and parks to explore and a vibrant nightlife. \nUseful hotel information:\nSailCoach’s Valencia SailBase is located at the Real Club Náutico de Valencia\, known locally as Club Náutico (if you take a taxi) in the neighbourhood of Poblats Marítims\, approximately 2 km along from the well-known City of Arts and Sciences. The Ilunion Aqua 3 and 4 hotels are reasonably priced and the nearest to the Valencia SailBase. Bed & Bike Marina is an apartment complex that we use from time to time\, which is ideal for short stays. \nThere are a number of modern hostels\, with the nearest one to SailCoach’s Valencia SailBase being Urban Youth Hostel in the vicinity of the old America’s Cup harbour and about 20 minutes by bicycle to the SailBase. In the city centre\, there is Purple and Red Nest Hostelsmodern and with a selection of room sizes\, including single and twin rooms. \nPlease note that we do not provide transportation between the SailBase and the hotels or apartments. However\, sailors tend to take a taxi or cycle between the two places. \nIf you are looking for apartment accommodation\, we recommend that you stay in the neighbourhoods of Marina Playa\, Camins al Grau\, Poblats Marítims or Quatre Carreres. There are also some excellent deals on Airbnb for all these neighbourhoods. \nI hope the above information is helpful\, and if you need any further assistance or would like to confirm a place\, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

The Master Clinic will look hard at developing both upwind and downwind speed\, with extensive use of video analysis. \nThe daily schedule will begin at 10:30 hrs with a meeting at the Royal Malta Yacht Club for a briefing on the day’s activities\, followed by a coach lead training session in the afternoon\, finishing each day up with a debrief on the day’s activities with video analysis. \nThose of you planning to take part in the EurILCA Masters regatta can make your registration on the final day of the clinic. \nWhat is included in the Clinic?\nThe clinic price includes SailCoach’s world-class coaching and ILCA Dinghy charter. Masters are responsible for their own accommodation\, travel and meal arrangements\, including meals out with the Masters group in the evenings. \nSocial activities.\nDuring this clinic\, we usually organise evening dinners\, like dining in the charming historic areas of Malta. Valletta and Malta as a whole have become well known for their exceptional Mediterranean cuisine\, featuring a range of restaurants\, including Michelin stars. We extend a warm welcome to the master partners of our sailors to join in these social gatherings. But be warned\, talk around the dinner table is mostly about ILCA sailing\, with such interesting topics as vang tension or centreboard height. \nMalta\, a stunning Mediterranean island nation\, combines culture\, art\, and history seamlessly. You can explore captivating sites\, like the historic Valletta or the ancient capital of Mdina. Enjoy shopping or relax on the beach with a good book. \nEurILCA Masters Regatta\n10th to 12th of January 2025\nThe EurILCA Masters Regatta at the prestigious Royal Malta Yacht Club\, noted for its hospitality and now in its fourth edition\, draws experienced sailors from around the world. It’s a reflection of the genuine Maltese hospitality.\n \nUseful hotel information:\nIf you’re searching for a hotel near the Royal Malta Yacht Club\, consider the neighbourhoods of Gzira and Sliema. They are in the central tourist area with great shopping and restaurants. We recommend hotels like Grands Suites Hotel\, Azur Hotel\, Alavits Hotel\, and the Waterfront all in Gzira or Sliema and within walking distance of the Royal Malta Yacht Club. There’s also the Chapter5 Boutique Hotel in Msida\, also nearby. \nIn Valletta\, you’ll find charming boutique hotels and the Grand Hotel Excelsior is conveniently located right across from the Yacht Club. If you opt to stay there\, we can arrange morning pick-ups by RIB. Alternatively\, Airbnb offers fantastic winter deals in neighbourhoods like Ta’ Xbiex\, Msida\, Gzira\, and Sliema. \nPlease note that we do not provide transportation between the Yacht Club and the hotels or apartments. However\, sailors tend to take a taxi (which is reasonably priced) or walk between the two places. \nI hope the above information is helpful\, and if you need any further assistance or would like to confirm a place\, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
